Michael Shenk is a CPA with more than 30 years of experience in corporate finance & accounting, financial restructuring, and forensic accounting. Michael returned to GlassRatner after spending three years as Chief Financial Officer for The Briad Group, owner and operator of over one hundred Wendy’s restaurants and fifteen extended stay hotels, along with real estate development and construction divisions.
Prior to joining Briad, Mr. Shenk spent over five years with Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Commercial Restructuring division and over seven years with GlassRatner’s financial advisory services division. Prior to his financial advisory services experience, Michael spent over seven years serving as Chief Financial Officer for Definition 6, an Atlanta based software and information technology firm. Mr. Shenk started his career as a Financial Analyst with The Home Depot.
Michael received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Georgia. He returned to the University of Georgia to earn his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). Mr. Shenk is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed in the state of Georgia, and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA)

- Acted as a financial advisor to The Krystal Company in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings leading various workstreams including management of the Company’s Chapter 11 sale and other bankruptcy-related processes, ensuring timely delivery of food and liquor inventories, effective vendor and lender communications and timely and accurate submission of responses to various due diligence inquiries.
- Acted as a financial advisor to California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings leading various workstreams including data analysis in support of the Company’s First Day Motions, evaluation of executory contracts (including store leases), vendor management and communications throughout the Chapter 11 proceeding, and preparation of periodic US Trustee reports as well as responses to various due diligence inquiries.
- Acted as a financial advisor to Cumulus Media Inc. in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings leading various workstreams including preparation of periodic US Trustee reports, non-debtor subsidiary bankruptcy reporting, responses to various stakeholder due diligence inquiries, preparation of presentations in support of several of the Company’s key bankruptcy motions, and evaluation of executory contracts in support of the Chapter 11 contract assumption and rejection process.
- Acted as financial advisor to Trustee of a liquidating trust with bank syndicate as beneficiaries. Trust asset was the 250 room Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds, Oconee, Georgia.
- Financial Advisor to Shale Support in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings
- Financial Advisor to the Unsecured Creditors’ Committee in the Avaya Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings
- Acted as a financial advisor to the Debtors in the AmTrust Financial Corporation (“AFC”) bankruptcy matter. AFC was the parent company of AmTrust Bank, which was seized by the FDIC in 2009. AFC also owned subsidiaries with operations in insurance, securities and real estate investments,
- Acted as a financial adviser to a Receiver in various matters including cases involving the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Securities and Exchange Commission,
- Performed financial analysis and forensic accounting services for the Receiver of CRE Capital Corporation, the vehicle for a $28 million Ponzi Scheme.
- Performed due diligence for asset-based lenders and private equity firms including borrowing base audits, quality of earnings analysis and review of accounting controls / systems.
