Mark is a highly experienced commercial damages and valuation expert. Mark has been involved in numerous high profile international arbitration cases and investment treaty matters around the world involving cumulative damages claims of several billion dollars.

Mark’s engineering and finance background makes him particularly well-suited to assist clients by providing detailed quantum damages analyses in financially complex and highly technical international disputes. He has deep experience and expertise in energy, oil & gas, mining, power plant, technology and large-scale infrastructure projects and operations, among others. He has been involved in damages analyses in several international disputes around the world having claims in excess of $1 billion.

Mark has been engaged in high profile disputes involving  expropriations, breach of contract, cancellations of permits and licenses, investment valuations, lost profits, shareholder valuations, and accounting fraud. He is experienced analyzing damages and working with several of the most prominent international arbitration and litigation law firms on ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, PCA, and LCIA matters.

Prior to his work as a commercial damages expert, Mark was a management consultant in the energy practices at A.T. Kearney and Booz & Co. advising global energy companies on maximizing post-merger synergy benefits for some of the largest asset acquisitions in the industry. He also advised global energy companies on strategic planning and improvement of financial returns for major capital projects around the world. Before that, he was involved in oilfield development projects at Shell Oil Company and Schlumberger.

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
