Michael Fuqua has 30 years of experience in corporate finance, capital markets, forensic accounting, crisis management, bankruptcy, and fiduciary services. Prior to joining GlassRatner, he worked in corporate banking, serving the capital market needs of Fortune 500 companies, and in financial planning for an international telecommunications company. At GlassRatner, he provides services to both government agencies and corporations.
Mr. Fuqua assists his corporate clients with operational improvements, debt refinancing, preparation for sale or merger transactions, and other corporate revitalization initiatives. These services involve rigorous financial and operational analysis, resulting in actionable and measurable plans to achieve the client’s objectives. He has successfully delivered these services across various industries, including manufacturing, publishing, retail, food processing, and agriculture.
For example, as advisor to a financially distressed, 100 year old, family-owned, wire manufacturer that draws steel rod to various sizes for commercial purposes, he successfully worked with the company’s lender to provide funds in excess of its credit limit and negotiated with other key creditors to continue to supply products while a revitalization plan was developed. Activities to develop the plan included product cost and pricing analysis, staffing, customer profitability, cash flow forecasting and variance reporting among other activities. Ultimately, the company’s credit facility was refinanced with a new lender and the creditors were all paid in full.
Mr. Fuqua earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Duke University. He holds an A.B. in Economics and an M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.
