Jouky Chang is a Managing Director at GlassRatner with more than 25 years of experience providing valuation services related to business interests and intangible assets. His expertise spans a broad range of accounting, tax, and corporate matters, including business combinations, impairment testing, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, fairness opinions, federal and state tax planning, estate and gift tax planning, shareholder and other litigation matters, and bankruptcy reorganizations.

Prior to joining GlassRatner, Mr. Chang served as a Managing Director at FON Valuation Services. Previously, he was a Managing Director with Duff & Phelps’ Valuation Advisory Services, where he was also a member of the firm’s national Office of Professional Practice. Earlier in his career, Mr. Chang worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto, Canada, where he specialized in audits of investment dealers, pension fund managers, offshore mutual funds, and other financial services organizations.

From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Chang served as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. His focus was on valuation and fair value measurement matters. His responsibilities included monitoring the activities of U.S. and international accounting standard-setting bodies, consulting with registrants on accounting, valuation, and financial reporting matters, and participating in rulemaking initiatives by the Commission and other standard-setting bodies.

Mr. Chang has served on the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) Business Valuation Standards Board, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Financial Reporting Committee, and The Appraisal Foundation’s Business Valuation Resource Panel.

Mr. Chang holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a minor in Economics, from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. He is a CFA® Charterholder and a Chartered Professional Accountant (Chartered Accountant) in Canada.

  • Performing valuations of business interests, tangible assets, and intangible assets for financial (ASC 805 & 718; SOP 90-7) and tax reporting purposes (IRC 1060, 864 & 409A)
  • Providing valuation and consulting services related to critical corporate transactions (e.g., M&A, spin-off, bankruptcy, going private), including fairness and solvency opinions.
  • Performing valuations of closely held corporations, general and limited partnership interests, fractional business interests, various classes of common/preferred stock, warrants, stock options and rights, including analysis of discount for lack of marketability and discount for lack of control.
  • Performing valuation services for companies preparing for initial public offerings or other exit transactions, including valuations of their capital structure, the TRA (tax receivables agreement), and tangible and intangible assets for both tax and financial reporting purposes.
  • Estimating Lost Profits, Economic Damages, and Lost Business Value on behalf of Plaintiffs and Defendants.
