John Levitske is a Senior Managing Director at GlassRatner, where he focuses on Forensic Accounting, Litigation Support & Expert Witness Services. He is a business appraiser, financial analyst, and forensic accountant with more than 40 years of experience. John has served as senior advisor to companies, legal counsel, executives, and investors regarding business valuation, financial, accounting, and damages issues in complex commercial matters such as shareholder, bankruptcy, M&A transaction, corporate alter-ego, and other business disputes.

He provides expert advice when disagreements or uncertainties arise regarding quantifications of value, price, accounting (GAAP and IFRS), or economic damages of a business or stakeholder interest in a business. John works across all industries and is experienced with both private and public companies, in civil and criminal cases.

John has worked with Big Four public accounting, global valuation and corporate financial advisory firms, investment banking, and international business and regional advisory and expert consulting firms, for over 30 years. He also founded a business valuation dispute analysis practice, co-founded an acquisition agreement vetting practice, and was one of the leaders of a post-acquisition dispute practice.

His expert witness work has included jury and bench trials, mediations, and arbitrations (e.g., ICC, LCIA, SCC, AAA, JAMS, FINRA, and ad hoc) in the United States and internationally. He has testified as an expert witness in the US, Europe, and the Caribbean.

John’s range of experience also includes serving in high profile matters such as valuation and forensic accounting issues in the US v. Lynch (In Re Autonomy Corporation plc) alleged white collar criminal case for the defense and the Lehman Brothers Holdings bankruptcy case for the court-appointed Independent Examiner’s investigation. Furthermore, John has served as a neutral arbitrator and as an independent advisor to the mediator.

He is an adjunct faculty member in finance and business law at Benedictine University College of Business, and an instructor in accounting & financial analysis in HKA’s New Consultant School training program. He previously served as a member-at-large of the Standing Committee on Audit of the American Bar Association (ABA) entity, the chair of the Dispute Resolution Committee of the ABA Business Law Section, the national president of the Forensic Expert Witness Association, and as president of the Financial Planning Association of Pittsburgh. He has also taught accounting, finance, and auditing at the University of Pittsburgh and Point Park University, served as a national exam question writer for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Accredited in Business Valuation Exam, and served as a grader for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Examination. In addition, John has been a contributing author to several ABA publications on the topics of Business Divorce and Valuation, Post-Merger & Acquisition Disputes, and Internal Corporate Investigations.
