Avery Alcorn is a Managing Director at GlassRatner, based in the Houston office. He specializes in restructuring, turnaround and interim management engagements, and brings more than a decade of experience across specialty chemicals, wholesale distribution, manufacturing and energy, guiding companies through complex turnarounds, Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, distressed sale processes and lender negotiations.
Mr. Alcorn’s clients span a range of industries, including specialty chemicals, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, energy and oilfield services, and retail and consumer brands. His work is concentrated on company-side engagements and Chapter 11 processes where the finance function itself must be rebuilt while the restructuring runs – cash forecasting, reporting, lender communication and stakeholder management – and he has served as the seated financial executive as well as part of the CRO team.
While his early career was built in oil and gas, much of his advisory work has been outside exploration and production. Recent engagements include a family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer with international operations, two billion-dollar wholesale distributors in forbearance, a renewable chemicals producer, a multi-concept restaurant group, and a regional footwear and apparel retailer.
Before joining GlassRatner, Mr. Alcorn spent six years at a mid-market financial advisory firm, where he was a Director and worked more than 20 company-side engagements. He was previously Chief Financial Officer of two Gulf of Mexico exploration and production companies, guiding one through its Chapter 11 process and Section 363 sale. He has testified in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and has served as a corporate representative in adversary litigation. Across his career he has closed 23 acquisitions and divestitures representing nearly $940 million in transaction value.
